You can view all of our fees in the Massachusetts Investment Advisor Table of Fees for Services. This is a new disclosure document required by the Massachusetts Securities Division as of 1/1/2020.
Balanced Rock Investment Advisors is an entirely Fee-Only financial planner and wealth manager. Hence, we are only paid by you, our client, for our services. Our only interest is providing you with honest, unbiased, and expert advice. Because of this, we also keep your best interests ahead of our own. This is our Fiduciary Duty.
Wealth Management Fees
We charge 0.75% annually of Assets Under Management (AUM), with a minimum annual fee for wealth management of $2,250. As a wealth management client, you also receive unlimited, comprehensive financial planning included in the service.
We are proud to say that we charge nothing — that’s right, $0 — on 529 education savings plans and most Donor Advised Funds (DAFs) for our wealth management clients. At Balanced Rock, we are committed to the long-term well-being and education of our clients and their families.
Financial Planning & Consulting Fees
We charge $200 per hour for our comprehensive financial planning service, with a minimum engagement of five (5) hours. We base the total hours needed per planning engagement on the scope and complexity of the work we will be doing. As a result, the hours needed per engagement are determined up front. To make our fee-only financial planning more affordable and accessible, we offer our hourly financial planning services to clients with a portfolio size of under $300k, who would not meet the $2,250 minimum fee at 0.75% AUM.
Wealth Management fees are billed quarterly in arrears. They can be deducted directly from your managed account or billed directly to you. In either case, you will always receive a statement of fees paid. These terms are further described in the investment advisory agreement.
Financial Planning fees are billed in two payments. Half is invoiced at the beginning of the initial engagement, and the balance is due at the time the engagement is completed. Future updates and rebalancing are billed individually based on the scope of work to be done each time. These terms are further described in the investment advisory agreement.
We accept payments by check, direct debit from your checking or savings account (ACH), and by credit card.
